Tucked away in the hills of a small town in Croatia exists an oasis of culinary delights. That place is 2.Peron in Cerovlje. 2.Peron is an unexpected restaurant offering the warmth of a local tavern and the sophistication of fine dining. On the front patio you are welcomed by the laughter of locals and the restaurant owners mingling with their guests. Wine is flowing, rakija is being poured generously, and you have the feeling of belonging, like being at a family get together. Inside the restaurant this mood continues as you see the staff interacting with guests who are made to all feel like friends.
This restaurant specializes in Istrian cuisine while also serving fresh baked pizzas with a local flare. My appetizers were fuzi ( a local handmade pasta) served with a generous amount of truffles, beef carpaccio and gnocchi shared between my table of four. Afterwards, I had their steak as my main, like most things I had tried that day it also had a generous helping of truffles on top as well as truffle oil on the side. My one suggestion would be to ask that some of your apps are made without truffles or a little less, so you can enjoy the luxurious experience of eating a truffle steak without the feeling of having over indulged in truffles throughout all your courses. The steak was tender, flavourful and I would definitely recommend to anyone who is travelling around Northern Croatia.

The dinner was capped off with more rakija (Croatian drink similar to grappa) and a lovely palachinke (Croatian crepes served with jam or Nutella inside). I would recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly; for its warm and inviting atomosphere, for its indulgent food that leaves you with a food high, and for the memories you’ll undoubtedly create dining here.
